The Alexandria City High School Athletic Department is proud to announce Sean Hamon as our new Boys Lacrosse Head Coach. Sean Hamon is a husband, father, mentor and coach. He is the newly appointed Head Men's Lacrosse Coach for ACHS. For the past 6 years he was at Hanover High School, just outside Richmond, as the head coach for 5 years and assistant for one year. Sean has also coached for several travel teams including: Richmond Hawks, North Meets South Lacrosse and currently for DC Express. Outside of coaching you will find him on his bicycle, spending time with his family or in front of his grill. The most important thing to note is that Sean believes his coaching goes much deeper than wins and losses. He's interested in investing in the lives of young men so they know they have a place to belong. He's very excited to be here at ACHS with the Titan Men.

Over the last three seasons Chloe and her teammates have won three District titles, two Regional Titles, and one State Championship. Her Sophomore and Junior season the team went 54-1 with the only loss being in the semifinals of the State Championship. We will miss Chloe next year, but we know that Duquesne University is gaining a dynamic setter who will no doubt make her mark there as well. Please stand as we celebrate Chloe’s numerous contributions to the ACHS volleyball program.

The Alexandria City Athletic Department is excited to announce the hiring of Mike Olerta as the Head Varsity Baseball Coach.
This will be his 10th year coaching high school baseball. Coach Olerta spent the 2013 to 2016 seasons as a Varsity Assistant Coach for West Potomac High School. In 2017 he was named Head Coach of Bishop Ireton High School and coached from 2017 to 2022.
During his first year as head coach at Bishop Ireton, he accomplished remarkable feats such as, ending a 34 straight conference losing streak, qualifying for the WCAC playoffs for the first time in 3 years, and making Bishop Ireton Baseball a competitive team in the WCAC. All his accomplishments were acknowledged at the close of the season when he was voted 2017 WCAC Coach of the Year.
Over the next six years as Varsity Head Coach, Coach Olerta continuously built on previous years successes and achieved many milestones that had not been seen in Bishop Ireton Baseball for over a decade. He received the 2021 Bishop Ireton Coach of the Year award and finished the season in 2022 ranked Top 10 of D1 Schools according to VISAA polling.
Coach Mike Olerta is native to Northern Virginia. He is a 2008 graduate of John R. Lewis High School. Upon graduation, he attended Wilkes University in which he played 4 years of Varsity Baseball for the Colonels. During that time, he hit a career average above .354 and ended his senior year with a .384 average. He was named to multiple MAC teams and graduated with honors in 2012.
“I am excited to be a part of this school and its legacy. It is seldom you get the opportunity to join a school with so much rich history of great coaches and sports. I look forward to hitting the ground running and making this program one of the top public school baseball programs in the state of Virginia, while continuing to build strong young men both on and off the field. I will bring my positive and hard-working mindset with me every day, and I look forward to transferring that same energy into my players.”
The Alexandria City High School Athletic Department will be introducing our new baseball coach on Wednesday August 24th, at 5:30pm in the Rotunda. All students and parents will be formally introduced to the new coach as well as hear from him and ask questions. Please come out and welcome our new coach to the Titan Family!
