Last weekend, Walt Whitman High School hosted the FIRST® Robotics Bethesda Event, where ACHS Titan Robotics placed 10th out of 33 teams.
While the robot competition is intense, the team’s efforts to inspire STEM growth are equally important. Students work to encourage today’s youth to become science and technology leaders, as outlined by competition standards. The most prestigious recognition for these efforts is the FIRST® Impact Award.
Titan Robotics, established in 2019, has worked to spread STEM across Alexandria. They demonstrate this through their outreach initiatives, from running 13 robotics programs in middle and elementary schools to hosting summer camps where students are introduced to STEM. Titan Robotics managed to impress the judges and bring home the FIRST® Impact award, which will bring them to the Chesapeake District Championships!
At the upcoming competition, over 50 teams will be in attendance. The Titans, along with the other teams, will continue to compete with their robot and present their community efforts.
