Born and raised in Alexandria, Philomena is all about building up her hometown. A proud Titan alumna, Philomena obtained many accolades as a player, including Patriot District Player of the Year, first team all-state, and first team all-Met honors. Philomena also captained a team to win a Patriot District Title. Philomena played four years of Division I field hockey at The College of the Holy Cross. She captained the team during her senior year, earning a spot on the Patriot League All-Tournament team.
Philomena discovered there was a high demand from the community for field hockey and co-founded the city of Alexandria’s first and only field hockey club, AVA Magic. The club provides an intro to field hockey through clinics, a summer league, and rosters 80+ girls across multiple recreational and travel teams that play in organized games and national tournaments. With over a decade of coaching experience, Philomena has coached players as young as 3rd grade through players entering college.Â
Philomena also works at the Alexandria Economic Development Partnership (AEDP) where she supports the creation and growth of small businesses in Alexandria. Philomena is a Holy Cross Field Hockey mentor and was previously a member of the Patriot League’s Anti-Racism Commission. In recent years, she was inducted into both the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce’s 40 Under 40 awards program as well as the Alexandria City Public School’s Athletic Hall of Fame for field hockey, indoor track, and soccer.
